16mm microfiche (also known as fiche or microfilm jackets) approx. 150mm x 105mm in size usually contain photographs of documents A4/A3 sized. They can however contain other smaller material such as cheques and notes. One fiche usually contains around 60 A4 portrait pages laid out in a grid but this can vary depending on the reduction used to photograph the original documents and also their original size. The number of ‘lanes’ (across) and ‘columns’ (down) can both change to alter the total number of pages per fiche.
DocuSense is able to convert your 16mm microfiche to a digital format no matter what number of frames a fiche contains, we can also cope with varying sized frames on a single fiche. We use an optical enlargement technique during the digitisation process to enlarge the microfilm image back to it’s original document size for maximum clarity rather than directly scanning the microfilm.
